Sandy MacArthur

"One of the great 1950's SCCA Hmod racing drivers"

Edward Sheldon "Sandy" MacArthur began racing in 1952 (Austin Healy), then built and raced his own car (the Sparrow) in 1953, then bought and raced the Chuck Hassen/James Riley Bandini Siluro Motto Crosley in 1954 and later installed a Mercury racing engine for the 1955 Sebring 12 Hours, then bought and raced the Paul Gougelman Giaur Lancia in 1956 with the Mercury engine, then won the 1957 Sebring Hmod class in Herm Behm's Stanguellini, then bought and raced the Ex Briggs Cunningham/Behm Stanguellini in 1958 and installed a new Mercury engine, and then imported and raced Stanguellini Formula Juniors.  The following are letters Sandy wrote describing his racing exploits.  Enjoy!
